Daniel`s XL Toolbox is a free scientific data analysis Add-In for Excel(R): Improved ANOVA with a-posteriori testing, smart custom error bars, spread scatter, formula builder, group allocation, and much more.
Features: There are several commercial software packages for scientific data analysis and presentation. Their statistical and scientific charting functions are very good yet they are themselves no match for Excel`s flexibility when it comes to organizing your data. Thus, researchers may end up having their data in several files. Mostly what happens is that the data files are in Excel. For specific analysis and presentation tasks, some of it is copied over to one of the professional scientific packages. This application lets you have your data in one place and get the analysis work done within Excel. Daniel`s XL Toolbox is an Add-In for Microsoft Excel for researchers in the life sciences and others.
It has an improved ANOVA function that is more flexible than ANOVA function of Analysis Toolpak and also offers a-posteriori testing. The Pearson product-moment correlation gives you a overview of linearity of data and can calculate statistical significance. Multi histogram helps generate histogram analyses while formula builder can help in analyzing data. Group allocator that has been included helps allocate/randomize subjects to treatment groups before starting an experiment. Several chart related functions are useful too. These include spread scatter charts, easy moving of chart ranges, easy annotation of charts by simply marking data cells with color. Custom error bars can be added to Excel charts, allows copying of chart properties from one chart to another and point charts to correct worksheets after they have been copied and pasted into Excel. You can add watermarks on charts to preserve copyright. Save charts as images in one of PNG, GIF, or JPG formats. Auto back up feature is useful in saving recent versions of a file.
Overall: Very useful stats package, particularly because you do not need to move in and out of Excel. The analyzes are built in into the Excel.
